Halloween a festival loved by children all across the world. Many of my students who had birthdays in October have already had Halloween themed birthday parties. And who doesn’t like some extra candy!
Something funny happened in the morning assembly on Halloween.
31st October is also “National Unity Day” which was introduced by the government of India in 2014. It celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who helped unite India after its Independence from the British rule.
There was a big advertisement/article in the newspaper about it. Personally, I had just discussed it with my class in the Newspaper Reading Period right before the assembly. Had told them the whole history behind how India was united by the efforts of this person, though there were others involved in it too. Most other teachers had done the same.
Just to spread more awareness about it, since it was just recently introduced, a teacher decided to hold a discussion to sensitize the children about it. The assembly conducted that day was on “teamwork”. So she found it even more fitting to discuss this with the audience.
With great aplomb she asked the audience, “Dear children, I am so glad we had the assembly on ‘teamwork’ TODAY. Do you know why today is so special?”
The auditorium roared with excitement, “Yes, ma’am!”
She was already beaming. All of us were actually. So she probed them further, “What are we celebrating today?”
Hands shot up! The mike volunteer gave the mike to a child who seemed so confident. He stood up and said, “Ma’am, we are celebrating Halloween.”
The entire auditorium was silent. But the teachers shot looks at each other trying to muffle their laughs. It was too cute.
School’s never dull.
Just to put another smile on your face here’s a compilation of some funny memes and puns on Halloween.
My personal favourite:
Have a great Halloween, guys!
