Idioms- Two Ways

Quite funny, don’t you think? What do you think the phrase ‘hold your horses’ means?

For those of you who couldn’t see the humour behind this post, the phrase means ‘to be patient’.

However, you see the animals holding two horses. This is the literal meaning of the idiom. You don’t see the animals doing anything that shows they are patient.

The picture is quite bizarre. No wonder one of the horses even looks a little shocked.

This is one of the several ways idioms can be used to enhance the level of your write- up. Use idioms in two ways in the same creative writing piece to add humour. Use it’s actual meaning and the literal one.
