Many of my students love reading. But there are quite a few who don’t. They end up giving me many reasons for disliking books. Sometimes it’s not that we dislike reading, but we haven’t yet found the book that suits our interests. Here’s an interesting article I once came across that will help you choose the book that you would like.
But before reading further, read the article given above.
You can follow the techniques given in the article, but reading an excerpt of a book is another way that further allows you to see whether the language of the book is suited for you or not.
Another thing to keep in mind here is that the book should be comprehensible by you. An easy example of this would be that some people might find the summary of any book by Shakespeare very interesting, but might fail to comprehend his writing style or language.
While you begin to read, some of you might want to read books that are easily comprehensible. But eventually we need to graduate to books that are slightly challenging but not too challenging. That’s called the ‘Just- Right Book’ for you.
Such a book might push you out of your comfort zone a little, but hey, growth always lies out of our comfort zones.
Once hooked to reading, any book will be a treat!
So take the first step and go through some books, check out their covers, read the summaries at the back or even some excerpts to choose the book you want to read.
Now, is anybody planning to make a change in their view towards reading and give it a shot?
Happy book hunt!
